Do new builds hold their value?
Just like a new car, a new build house will depreciate in price the minute you turn the key in the door.
Even in a rising property market you may not get your money back if you have to sell within a year or two.
How long before you can sell a new build?
Financially, how soon can you sell a house after buying it? While you can sell anytime, it’s usually smart to wait at least two years before selling.
Should I buy new build?
New build homes have to comply with the latest building and energy efficiency regulations. This means your energy bills should be lower in a new build than an older property. Your home should not need as much maintenance as an older home either.
Will I lose money if I sell my house after 1 year?
There’s nothing stopping you from selling your home immediately after you walk away from the closing table. However, if you don’t stay in your home for at least a couple of years, you’ll likely have to take a loss when you sell. Unless you sell for more than you owe on the mortgage, you lose that initial investment.
